Britannia Receives $20,000 Contribution from Vancity in Support of 50th Anniversary Campaign

Britannia Board members receive donation cheque from Vancity

On June 30, 2026, Britannia Community Services Centre Society was honoured to receive a $20,000 contribution from Vancity in support of Britannia’s $50,000 for 50 Years of Service Campaign.

The cheque presentation took place at the Vancity Commercial Drive Community Branch, where representatives from Vancity joined Britannia staff and community members to mark this important milestone.

As Britannia celebrates 50 years of service, programming, and community connection in East Vancouver, the campaign helps recognize the Centre’s long-standing role as a welcoming hub for generations of residents, families, youth, seniors, artists, athletes, and community groups.

For five decades, Britannia has been a gathering place for recreation, culture, learning, support, and connection. The $50,000 for 50 Years of Service Campaign invites residents, partners, alumni, and supporters to help sustain the programs, services, and spaces that continue to serve the diverse communities that call East Vancouver home.

Vancity’s contribution helps launch this milestone campaign and reflects a shared commitment to community well-being, inclusion, and local support. Vancity has deep roots in East Vancouver, beginning in 1946 with a focus on providing banking services to people living east of Cambie Street. Thirty years later, Britannia Community Services Centre opened its doors, and both organizations have continued to serve East Vancouver in ways rooted in community care and connection.

Britannia Community Services Centre Society extends its sincere gratitude to Vancity for their generous contribution and continued support of East Vancouver.
