Beyond the Blue Box: Where to Recycle?

The Pacific Mobile Depot has ended their Vancouver recycle depot at Britannia as of Feb 2025. Here are alternatives around our neighbourhood for items not picked up curbside.

Soft plastics, foil-lined packaging, Styrofoam, light bulbs, and batteries can all be taken to:

• Powell Street Return-It Bottle Depot – 1856 Powell Street

• Mount Pleasant Return-It Depot – 501 East Broadway

Got a child car seat you need to get rid of? These can be dropped off for a fee at United We Can Bottle Depot, located at 1187 Parker Street, through a partnership with Reclaim Plastics.

If you’re cycling around the city and need to dispose of bike tires or tubes, stop by Kickstand Community Bikes, also at 1187 Parker Street.

For electronics, small and large appliances, paint, pesticides, and fuel, head over to:

• Regional Recycling Vancouver – 960 Evans Avenue

Even though the Britannia depot has closed, the options above ensure you can still recycle responsibly and keep waste out of the landfill.
