Britannia Coffee House Series

The Britannia Coffee House Series is a favourite seasonal event celebrating the turn of each season.

Each event is warm and inviting, creating an opportunity for community to gather and connect, and enjoy music and poetry by local performers. The series is as dynamic and diverse as our community itself. If you haven't checked out the Coffee House Series, you're in for a treat! 

Fall Equinox Coffee House

Join us from 7:00pm-9:00pm on September 26, 2024 at Progress Lab 1422 or on Zoom.

New location! In partnership with Neworld Theatre, we're hosting the Coffee House at Progress Lab 1422 (1422 William Street). We will continue to live stream the event; you can also join from home on Zoom.

Featuring:

  • Stephen-Lytton is an actor with Weaving Reconciliation: Our Way, is a long-time DTES resident, actor, writer, community activist and residential school survivor from the Nlaka’pamux First Nation, Lytton BC. Stephen has also been honoured with the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.

  • Typewriter Tales with Paula Luther is a community story writing project that brings community together in the act of creating a story together, one line at a time. Imaginations are sparked, secrets are shared, tales of the heart spoken, voices heard. Everyone is invited to participate. Everyone has a voice.

  • Icelandic Songstress Annie Becker is a Canadian musician who has made a significant impact on the music industry with her unique sound and captivating performances. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres, from jazz and folk to RnB and electronica, Annie's music is a sonic exploration of the human spirit. Her live performances are a sight to behold, with Annie using her looping pedals to create a symphony of sound in real-time.

  • The Amok Project is a dance and arts organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia that creates innovation and dialogue in the arts. We act through the medium of dance while focusing on cross-disciplinary practices that empower our community of artists. By cultivating intergenerational exchange, we push the boundaries of the creative processes and produce enlightening artistic experiences.

  • Dirty Bellows is a 4-piece band playing accordionist covers of popular hits with World and Latin flavours. The band started as a busking project in 2021 and graduated to playing club shows, private events and festivals. In 2022, Dirty Bellows performed at Punkouver Fest in Vancouver, Parks Alive Festival in Kelowna, clubs such as Fortune Sound Club, The Fox Cabaret and Wise Hall. They continue to play shows around town.
