Workshops & special events
We offer a range of workshops with local artists from lino-cut and printmaking to drop-in art making at our Special Events. Register seasonally by looking at the offerings in the program guide. If you are an artist in our community that would like to lead a workshop please reach out to the Arts & Culture programmer Amanda amanda.lye@vancouver.ca or fill out a Program Proposal Form.
We also work with community artists in our Britannia Gallery space which offers further engagement with artists through workshops and artist talks. More information at the BAG website.

Black History Month Event
In the month of February the Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Committee in partnership with the Arts & Culture Committee hosted the 2nd annual Black History Month event. This included an artist talk in the Britannia Art Gallery with the current exhibition, followed by refreshments and special guests in the Senior 55+ Centre. Working with community artists and local curator Danais Yera Guerra.
The Coffee House
Takes place twice a year in the Spring and the Fall Equinox as we celebrate the change of seasons and our community of exceptionally talented musicians, dancers and poets. Curated by Danais Yera Guerra, we showcase local talent in an intimate setting at the 55+ centre. If you are interested to get involved or perform please reach out to Danais at danaisyera@gmail.com
Honk!BC
A partnership with Open Air Orchestra Society which brings free music to Grandview Park with a festival of local street bands in the International Honk! Movement that aims to create and collaborate in order to make our world a better place to be – to truly fill the streets with joy!
SHINE Intercultural Event at Grandview Park.
2025 was the 4th Spring to host and curate a showcase of Britannia programs, local musicians, and artists to come together for an afternoon celebration in Grandview Park. Free BBQ and art workshops, and kid craft zone. Support from our community volunteers and the grant from the City of Vancouver Cultural Services Community Artists Shifting Cultures to make this event a success.
Indigenous Concert Series at Grandview Park
In partnership with the Vancouver Urban Park Activations team we hosted an Indigenous Concert Series in East Vancouver. Showcasing local First Nation, and Metis artists curated by Suzette Amaya suzette.amaya@vancouver.ca and supported by the Indigenous Programming team at Britannia. Join us for an afternoon in the park and meet some contemporary artists and cultural sharings.
42nd Annual Britannia Winter Market
In partnership with the Britannia Secondary School. Britannia Arts and Culture hosts a Winter Fair with performances by Britannia Programs such as The Carnival Band and Salsa dance, VLACC Choir. We fill Gym D with local artisans and community groups such as the Brit Sec Young entrepreneurs and the Elementary School PAC fundraising table. Stop by the Arts and Culture Committee table for info about our programs and a chance to win small items from the Pottery program and more. Apply with the same submission form as the Summer Markets.
Britannia Plaza Markets & Greenway Gatherings
Located in the walkway on Napier street between Britannia Community Services Centre and Commercial Drive. We offer various markets, music performances, and art activities with local artists that live in our catchment. As well as the Greenway Gatherings that are intimate activations free to the community to participate in with thanks to the City Placemakers and the Britannia Neighbours.
Weekly Registered Programming
We offer a range of registered programs for adults and children that occur for 5-10 weeks each season. These programs are offered by excellent artist/facilitators. And include Salsa Dance, African Drumming, Pottery, Drawing, Guitar, French, Spanish, and many more! Check out the program guide.
